Dashboard
A screen on which the key figures update themselves and are visible at a glance, without opening reports.

A dashboard gathers figures from one or several systems and shows them in one place: orders, revenue, stock, the state of tasks. Unlike a report, it is not prepared once a month; it shows the current state.
A dashboard earns its keep when people look at it often and decide things from it. If the numbers are needed once a quarter, a report is enough: it costs less and needs no upkeep.
The hard part of a dashboard is not the charts but the data: where it comes from, how often it is refreshed, and whether different systems calculate the same figure the same way.
