CRM
A system that keeps customer contacts, communication history and sales progress in one place.

A CRM (customer relationship management system) replaces the spreadsheets, emails and notes across which information about customers usually ends up scattered. Everyone on the team sees the same thing: who the customer is, what was discussed, what was promised and what happens next.
Off-the-shelf CRM systems suit a sales process that resembles that of most other companies. They are quick to set up, but you adapt your way of working to the system rather than the other way round.
A custom system is worth considering when the process has particulars a ready-made tool does not cover, or when the CRM must be tightly connected to the company’s other systems. Often an off-the-shelf CRM and a few integrations are enough.
